A thousand pictures say a million words.

December 09, 2004

If you have a digital camera I am sure you take a lot more photos than you did with a film camera. I have taken over 700 family photos this year and why not send all of those photos to your friends and family as a Christmas card—that is what we did this year. Let me explain.

First, I have always enjoyed the ‘photo mosaics’ art by Robert Silvers. I actually have one hanging in my office that shows thousands of historical photos from U.S. history and the mosaic makes an american flag. Each photo tells a story and all of the photos make up a general theme—a photo mosaic. I wanted to do something like that.

Next, with the help of google I found a solution. Engadget’s “how to” on making your own photo mosaic. It works suprisingly well and now I have my family photomosaic that I can use for a Christmas card. It is a great way to tell a story with all of those photos you take.

A year in the life of the Scarbrough Family.

Interesting idea, I'll have to try that with some random pics, see how it turns out...

Well you need some time (and cpu power) to get an awesome result. But... I like it.
